easyJet has revealed a flight-friendly leap forward in air travel. From 1 September 2025, the airline will launch a new direct domestic route between Birmingham and Derry, becoming the sole carrier operating this service. Scheduled twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, this new link is perfectly timed for long weekends, staycations, business trips, or catching up with friends and family across the UK.
This new connection enriches easyJet’s growing footprint at City of Derry Airport, marking the third route added in the past year after Edinburgh and Liverpool, and reinforces the carrier’s role as Northern Ireland’s leading airline. Seats are already on sale via easyJet’s website and app, with prices starting from around £24.99 or £27.99, depending on booking channels.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, highlighted that the new Birmingham–Derry connection caters to increasing demand from both leisure and business travelers from the Midlands. Tom Screen, Aviation Director at Birmingham Airport, echoed the enthusiasm, noting that the return of this link builds on passenger demand and bolsters domestic air travel choices. Community leaders also welcomed this announcement, viewing it as a boon for regional growth, business opportunities, and tourism in Northern Ireland.
The inaugural flight on 1st of September departed Birmingham, marking the start of this exciting new chapter in UK air travel with its expanding customer options, great value fares and seamless connections. Birmingham Airport’s Terminal Operations Director, Al Titterington, praised the route as the latest example of easyJet’s commitment to expanding travel choices and investing in regional connectivity.
This Birmingham to Derry link not only enriches air travel options for passengers across regions, but also highlights the strength of easyJet’s strategic expansion: deepening services at its Birmingham base after launching the first new UK base in over a decade, and dynamically growing routes from City of Derry.
By weaving this new direct route into the existing network, easyJet offers travelers across Northern Ireland and the Midlands seamless, affordable, and efficient air connectivity. Whether you're exploring Derry’s walled city, enjoying Birmingham’s urban vibrancy, or traveling for work, this new service brings more freedom and flexibility to your journey.
